Doorstep Selling regulations cover contracts made during both solicited (invited) and unsolicited (uninvited) visits by traders and cover all contracts with a total value of £35 or and they set the "cooling off" period at seven (7) days.

If you (the consumer) agree to buy the goods or services offered then the seller is obliged to give you,in writing, notice of your right to cancel the agreement within seven (7) days of the "sale". This right to cancel must either be written in to any contract or, if there is no written contract, it should be provided separately.

The seller does not have to give you a written quotation but you are strongly advised to ask for one.

If you are not sure about what you are being offered or about the person offering the goods or services - STOP ! - TAKE TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE OFFER. You should always for some identity and/or contact details from the trader so that, if necessary, you can contact them again.

If you have doubts about the trader being genuine or not you should not accept any offer. Remember - IT'S YOUR DOORSTEP - YOUR DECISION !
